Rhymer

Rhymer is a very special dog and what I believe all Shelties should be: a dog that can do it all. I am very grateful to Patti Jackson (Sandy Isle Shelties) for letting this boy stay with me. Rhymer has a lovely headpiece and abundant, harsh, correct coat. Rhymer produces a lot of himself in his get, including his versatility. Rhymer is the type of dog who will give you 100% in anything you ask of him.

Rhymer's career began in 2003 at the ASSA National. He was entered in agility, herding, and conformation. Rhymer took 1st in Open Jumpers and 2nd in Open Standard earlier in the week, but the true ability to go from one ring to the next was proven on Thursday. Rhymer was entered in Am Bred with his handler Jane Hammett, as well as in the Herding Started class. When Rhymer's herding run came up, he was still in the breed ring with Jane. The judge was kind enough to hold the trial for Rhymer to make the cut in his class, run over to the herding arena, and be pushed under the fence -- literally! Rhymer qualified for his first HSAs leg with 6th place, then ran back into the breed ring to finish showing. This is what a Sheltie should be able to do!

A few months later, Rhymer earned his Started title by taking High In Trial at the Greater Lafayette Kennel Club's all breed trial in 2003. As Rhymer matured, he took a vacation from herding to be a show dog. Rhymer finished his Championship with a 4 point specialty major. He was shown by Jane Hammett.

Rhymer wasn't done yet! He loves agility, so he went down to South Carolina to live with Mike and Jan Padgett to fulfill his potential as an agility dog. Rhymer quickly and easily finished his MACH under the expert guidance of the Padgetts and made the trip to the 2009 AKC Agility Nationals. Rhymer qualified for the 2010 AKC Agility Nationals, along with his daughter Kona. Rhymer loved South Carolina so much, he decided he was going to stay there!

Rhymer continues to "wow" people with his beautiful breed type, outstanding temperament, athletic ability, and love of life.
