Cloud is my dream puppy - he is out of the first litter I bred. When I held him right after he was born, I knew that he was mine and would do great things - and he has not let me down yet!
Cloud has a beautiful front assembly, giving him the correct balance and soundness required in a Sheltie and in a working dog, as well as a correct coat, firm topline, and length of neck. Cloud is passing his high-herding drive, temperament, soundness, and good looks to his offspring. He has excellent reach and drive, giving him clean, effortless movement at any speed -- trotting around the yard or running on a B-course outrun. Cloud's structure and body, combined with his drive and instinct, allows him to be a true athlete.
Herding is Cloud's first love. He is not only a fantastic trial dog, he is the best all-around stock dog and really enjoys farm work. Cloud has the power, presence, and grit to work cattle, yet the sensitivity and accuracy to work ducks. He adapts his herding style to the stock; gently working the new lambs or striking the head of a bully sheep. He finished his AKC HCh in style at the Cleveland Shetland Sheepdog Club's trial in Nova, Ohio, and went on to earn his ASCA Working Trial Championship. To achieve a WTCh, a dog must work ducks, sheep, and cattle at the advanced level. There have been very few Shelties to have earned a HCh and WTCh. Cloud was the #1 AKC Herding Sheltie for two different years: 2004 and 2007. In 2004, Cloud had 7 High In Trials and 1 Reserve High in Trial with eight 1st places, three 2nd places, and three 3rd places.
Cloud thinks Agility is incredibly fun, but we have only done limited amounts of it due to our focus and time spent in Herding. Regardless of his exposure to it, he always gives 110% and has a ball. Cloud recently took a vacation to hang out with Rhymer and Mike & Jan Padgett to do some agility. He quickly earned his Excellent titles and earned his MACH with Mike!!
