After continued success in herding with her Shelties, Tammy began offering clinics in 2008. As a serious exhibitor, Tammy knows what it takes to bring a dog to the top of its game at Advanced levels. Unfortunately, there are far too many exhibitors, trainers, and clinicians who will disregard the Shetland Sheepdog as a true herding breed or a worker capable of handling the challenges and rigor of herding.
Although a loving home is the most a breeder could ask for, the Faerie shelties are more than versatile companions. They are working stock dogs and trial dogs; they can run in AKC, AHBA, and ASCA trials, earning Herding Championships, Working Trial Championships, and Herding Trial Championships. However, the same dogs who dominate the trial rings, also do farm chores and work as the set out dogs in trials. The dogs aren't obedience trained to move stock -- they have the stock sense and savvy to work independently to get chore work and advanced trial work done.
Both Tammy's dogs and dogs she has bred have consistently been ranked in the Top 10 Herding dogs for Shetland Sheepdogs. There is no limit to what a Sheltie with the right instinct and drive can do.
In 2009, Tammy did a clinic for the Pikes Peak Herding Association, the St. Louis Herding Club, and a few private clinics for Sheltie owners in Michigan and Indiana. Tammy will be holding clinics in Michigan on a monthly basis starting in March 2010.
